In December, IRI Brazil set up its first local chapter in the city of Rio Branco, Acre. The meeting brought together more than 60 people from different religious traditions and spiritualities (Catholics, Evangelicals, Ayahuasca culture, Spiritists and indigenous people), the Chico Mendes Committee, the Federal University of Acre and the State Public Prosecutor's Office.
By creating this space for dialogue, learning and integrated action with the participation of religious people, scientists, representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities, we believe it will be possible to advance the population's engagement in environmental preservation, respect for the rights of indigenous peoples and local communities and the promotion of sustainable development in the Amazon.
On that occasion, the film Amazônia Viva was launched in the state.
